Yesterday Mrs Grumpus (age 63 and threequarters) ran in the Basingstoke Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research. She ran the three mile course in under 30 minutes (bless her!) and at the end said she could have done another circuit. She personally raised over £180 for the charity.
Despite the intermittent drizzle thousands of runners and walkers and their supporters turned out and I imagine the day was a great success and a boost for this most excellent cause.
Congrats all round. Amid all the doom and gloom, we have a few things we can be proud of!!

Oh, well done to Mrs. Grumpus...three miles in 30 mins is pretty good going...please send her my congrats ;-) Did a walk for peace once and discovered a mile or so in we were doing it backwards. Turned round and then went the right way, but all the ushers had gone by the time we arrived, and ended up doing a ten mile hike instead of a five mile one because they'd kindly moved the signposts as well HLOL Oh, what we do for something good in this world ;-))) And we didn't get sponsors either...never thought of it...it was just a walk for Peace....
